These Service Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings and enrolments at KDA VENTURES PTY LTD (ACN 646 641 723) trading as The Social Canvas (the "Company"). By making a booking, you agree to these Service Terms and Conditions.
All bookings are made online via our website www.thesocialcanvas.com.au. On occasion, depending on circumstances, invoices may be raised and sent for fees or payments.
Commitment to attendance is expected. By making a booking, you are agreeing to our Service Terms and Conditions.
Fees for commencement of courses part way through a term will be charged on a pro rata basis if the course is still open to accepting new enrolment. Please contact us to enquire.
There are no refunds for change of mind or absence. Refunds may be granted in accordance with current Australian legislation for consumers. A full copy of our refund policy can be accessed via the footer section of our website www.thesocialcanvas.com.au.
In the case of terminated participation initiated by the Company for the purpose of maintaining the good order of operations, a pro-rata rate refund (based on the number of classes remaining at the time of termination) will be issued, minus a $50 service fee.
Once a booking is made, a member of the Company team will send (via email hello@thesocialcanvas.com.au) an online enrolment form. The Company respects privacy. The information collected on the online enrolment form will be done so in accordance with current Australian legislation for privacy and our website privacy policy, of which a full copy is available for access via the footer section of our website www.thesocialcanvas.com.au.
One participant per enrolment form, only.
At times, hard copies of information may be collected. All hard copies of information are stored securely in a locked filing cabinet/case accessed only by authorised Company educators, staff, and team members.
We have strict vetting and training practices of educators, staff, and team members before granting access to users' personal information and regular audits of educators, staff, and team members and departments that handle user data.
Unfortunately, due to the sequential structure of our courses, we cannot offer catchup classes in the event of absence. In some cases, content for missed classes can be accessed online via a password-protected program. The Company can be contacted for further information regarding this matter.
Compensation for extended absences may be granted on compassionate grounds; however, considerations are made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Company and may incur a $50 service fee.
In the event of illness or emergency concerning a Company educator, suitable relief will be arranged for affected classes to maintain continuity for students. Parents/caregivers will be notified prior to the commencement of any and all affected classes.
In some instances, the Company will continue to operate on Public Holidays and Student Free Days (aka Pupil Free Days). If a course is likely to be impacted by a Public Holiday or Student Free Day, a member of our team will be in touch to discuss options.
Students and participants are expected to dress for safety in the studio. This includes: appropriate 'mess' clothes, covered shoes, and long hair tied back.
Aprons are available to borrow for use during classes at all studio locations. Alternatively, students may choose to bring their own apron to each class.
Students and participants are expected to behave in a responsible, respectful, and safe manner (including the use of tools and materials) at all times.
It is an expectation that parents/guardians support their enrolled student/s to abide by our values. Company educators, staff, and team members will also support students to abide by our values.
Our values are: Fun, Creativity, Respect, Honesty, Kindness, Patience, Community.
Student behaviour that adversely impacts the health, safety, wellbeing, and experience of others will not be tolerated. In instances of misconduct, students will receive a verbal warning, and a parent/guardian will be notified.
In extreme instances and for the preservation of the health, safety, and wellbeing of others, a parent/guardian may be requested to collect their enrolled student.
The Company reserves the right to terminate participation of students whose behavior is deemed to be in breach of our values and expectations of participation and/or disrupts the good order of our operations.
Company educators, staff, or team members conduct safety checks before each class to ensure studio spaces and additional working spaces are safe and free of hazards and potential hazards.
Studio activities involve the use of various art materials and tools, such as, but not limited to, acrylic paint, watercolor, gouache, PVA glue, glue sticks, scissors, gesso, acrylic mediums, oil pastels, etc. Most tools and materials supplied are student grade. Material and Safety Data Sheets have been consulted for safe use advice. On occasion, students may use professional-quality materials under strict supervision and safety guidance, where necessary, appropriate safety precautions are taken, and PPE provided (e.g., gloves, goggles, masks, etc.).
Company educators, staff, and team members hold current First Aid and CPR certificates. Studio spaces are equipped with a First Aid Kit.
Educators, staff, and team members have a mobile phone for emergency use. In most instances, this will be their personal device.

The Company also operates from other studio locations, which may be equipped for health and safety in different ways than outlined above and be specific to the location. You can ask your location educator, a member of staff or team member for more information at any time.
During the first class of the term, Company educators, staff or team members will discuss emergency action plans and show students the emergency evacuation route/s and assembly point/s. Students will be reminded of these routes throughout the term. A practice will be conducted once per term.
The Company takes health, safety, and wellbeing seriously. In all circumstances, Company educators, staff, and team members will act in the best interests of students and participants.
